History of Venice Restaurant

In 1977 Jack & Mary Weger had a dream to open an Italian Resturant & Pizzeria. They moved from Long Beach, Long Island N.Y. to Tucson and had a Restaurant built. It opened on Dec. 12, 1977. The First location about 1200 sq. ft. was at Speedway & Camino Seco. Venice Pizzeria as it was known then served Pizza, salad, sandwiches and Italian Specialties. All Sauces, pizza dough, Sausage, meatballs, Lasagna, eggplant were Homemade. Soon Their daughters Cindy & Wendy became of age where they could help.Cindy has worked in the Family Buisness since she was 11. Wendy worked for 6 years and went on to work for a Tucson Country Club. She returned on Sept 4, 2001. That buisness lasted 23 years. We decided to relocate when our lease was purchased by a developer. Venice Restaurant & Pizzeria now located at 7848 E. Wrightstown Rd. is larger 2300 sq. ft.
